Strathwell Dale Renovation Project

Phase 2, putting it back together.
The plaster is now going up on the ceilings and walls, modern doors, where there were any have been replaced with handmade traditional doors. The upvc widows have been replaced with handmade hardwood georgian style windows, which have been painted white. The old rotten back door has been replaced with an Oak Stable Door. The well has got a new roof on it. The plastic guttering has been replaced with cast aluminium guttering.

While the renovation of the fireplaces was ongoing, we noticed a small hole in the right hand corner of the fireplace in the middle room. Upon further investigation, this was discovered to be a breadoven some 4ft in diameter hidden behind the wall. After discussion with the Conservation Department it was decided to renovate this as well.
